NuPoint Messenger™ Model 640 PDF Print E-mail

Businesses today purchase information technology based on current needs and future requirements. With the NuPoint Messenger, Model 640, your investment is safe. Model 640 offers:

  • State-of-the-art technology based on industry standards which guarantees quality components
  • Multi-Vendor Integration Protocol (MVIP) bus which provides highly sophisticated sharing of system resources
  • Modular architecture that allows you to buy the system you need today, and then cost-effectively add applications, features, and functions as your business grows.
And since each new module shares the same database as the modules already installed, your stored messages, system data — and especially your investment — are always protected.

Easy Expansion

The largest of the NuPoint Messenger models, the Model 640, expands from 8 to 240 ports and 90 to 2,880 (redundant) or 5,760 (non-redundant) hours of speech storage. The high-density line cards and Pentium® processor support more than 345,000 user mailboxes, making the Model 640 an ideal solution for customers who need high-capacity systems that support a full range of applications, including:

  • NuPoint Voice™, a feature-rich voice messaging product
  • NuPoint Fax™, a mailbox-based fax management product
  • NP View, an integrated multi-media messaging product for the desktop
  • NuPoint Agent™, an advanced call processing solution for individuals and organizations
  • NP Net, a digital networking option
  • Digital integration with virtually any PBX or telephone system
  • Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology for future application support
  • NP Manager, network and system management

Reliability, Availability and Serviceability

To ensure system reliability, availability, and serviceability, the Model 640 offers hard drive redundancy, CPU redundancy, and distributed power. The addition of a second module results in a functionally redundant Model 640 system. Comprehensive fault tolerant monitoring and alarming are provided by the Alarm Monitoring Power Supply (AMPS), while a
watchdog timer function automatically resets the system if a system restart is required, saving time and on-site service calls.

With hard drive redundancy, a primary hard drive and its redundant partner function as ‘mirror images’ of each other so that no system data is lost — even if one of the drives is removed from service. When a drive is put back into service, it automatically synchronizes itself with its ‘partner’. Redundancy enhances system availability, since the Model 640 can continue to process information while it is being serviced.
